Our providers, Dr. Benjamin Goodman and Dr. Gregory Brooks, welcome you to their family medicine practice. The top priority of the physicians and staff is helping you and your loved ones prevent illness and maintain physical and emotional well-being by providing medical care and recommending healthy lifestyle choices. Our practice manages acute and chronic illnesses, treats acute injuries, performs minor office surgeries and, when necessary, refers you to an appropriate specialist. Dr. Benjamin Goodman
Dr. Goodman was born and raised in Hickory, NC. He obtained his B.S. from Davidson College and attended University of NC School of Medicine. He did his internship and residency for the Department of Family Medicine at Penn State University in Hershey, PA. He served 2 years in the US Army at Fort Gordon, GA in the Dwight Eisenhower Medical Center. He taught family medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina for 11 years. He was Residency Director for the 45-person, 3 year training program for the last 8 years he was there. Returning to his hometown of Hickory over 25 years ago, he practiced with his father for the last 10 years of his illustrious career. Dr. Brooks joined him in 1999 and they have served the people of Hickory at their current location since 2001.
Dr. Goodman and his wife have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. He enjoys traveling, gardening, reading, his yellow lab and being a member of the Catawba Valley Wildlife Club.
Dr. Gregory Brooks
Dr. Brooks was born and raised in Parkersburg, WV and obtained his undergraduate B.A. degree from the University of Virginia. He then obtained his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1996. Dr. Brooks went on to Columbia, SC to complete his internship and residency in the Department of Family Medicine at USC School of Medicine in conjunction with Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital. After this, he moved to Hickory, NC and has been in practice with Dr. Goodman since August of 1999.
Dr. Brooks and his wife Janet have 4 children, which he truly enjoys spending time with. He’s an avid sports fan and especially enjoys rooting for his alma maters: the UVA Cavaliers and the WVU Mountaineers.
